“I’ve heard so many horror stories going into this experience. Everyone was telling me that it’s never an easy process and everything that you can possibly think of that could go wrong…will.
Well, I started off looking at houses, just riding around on my own, wanting to see what was out there in my price range. I met a couple of realtors in the process and all of them seem to make me feel as if I was wasting their time or they just didn’t have time. They didn’t even want to talk to me unless I had already gone through the [loan] approval process.
Even though I can understand that thought process, as a first time homebuyer, there are a lot of questions and I would have loved to have someone to kind of walk me through it. I wanted to understand the process that I was actually about to go through. One day, I was explaining this to a friend of mine and he decided to refer to me Stacy Gordon. He said he worked with her several times before and she was great.
Well, being that I had met so many realtors that did not want to help me because of where I was in the process or because I wasn’t trying to spend a million dollars, I was a tad bit discouraged. Well, he asked me about it again sometime later and I decided to give her a call. From the very first time we spoke, I knew that this was already a different experience. We immediately connected. She started explaining things to me from the very beginning. I knew more talking with her in those 2 hours than I did speaking with anyone else. This was a Friday and I’m thinking, well the weekend will come and I guess we will talk again next week. But, she immediately started helping me. I was totally blown away. She knew exactly where I was in the process and still wanted to help me. That meant a lot to me!
It took us a while [to get started] because I was trying to go through NACA and they were great, but it ended up not being the program for me. She connected me to Wells Fargo and everything just went from there. It was the smoothest process. She knew exactly what I wanted and what I liked and disliked. I loved that about her. She really paid attention to my requests. She always made time to meet with me, were it to just ease my mind or discuss/explain paperwork. It was so reassuring to know that I could trust her.
Finally, as we were leaving the closing table, I had to say to her ‘I honestly do not know what the fuss is all about.’ I mean, could this process really be this easy? Overall, I enjoyed it and I think I made a new friend 🙂
